About ONF
Established in 1982, the Oregon Nurses Foundation is a tax-exempt, charitable 501(c)(3) organization. The Foundation seeks to advance the profession of nursing in Oregon by raising funds to support our three key areas of focus. As part of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to advance the profession of nursing in Oregon, our Board and staff have re-evaluated the Foundation’s programs and have crafted a new direction which we believe will help us transform the profession of nursing in the coming years.
Mission Statement
The mission of the ONF is to support nurses, and the nursing profession through three key priority areas:
- Nursing Education Scholarships
- Workforce Assistance
- Retention Programs
Our Goals
1. Expand our existing scholarships (both in number and in amount given) to $100,000 in direct funding to nursing students and those pursuing advanced nursing degrees per year.
2. Create and implement workforce assistance programs in four key areas:
- Aging nursing population and general nursing population health
- Rural nursing
- Case Management and Delegation skills development
- Acute Care Nursing and the implications of Health Care delivery reform
3. Expand the Foundation’s programs to address personal and professional challenges for nurses and increase retention for the profession. This will include securing funding for the Nurse Assistance Network to expand and professionalize that program’s offerings and increase ONF’s involvement in the Professional Recovery Network as a lead partner in the program.
